What is the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program?

There are 550 Rotary Districts in the world. Each District has approximately 50 Rotary Clubs. The District Youth Exchange Chairpersons correspond across the world. They develop a mutually balanced system of exchanges. This prevents one region or country from dominating the exchange program and assures that every country or territory is represented if they so desire.

Individual Rotary Clubs determine their involvement in the Rotary International Exchange Program. The local clubs interact with the District Chairperson and determine the availability of exchange opportunities. No student will be sent to an area or region not represented by a willing Rotary Club that has satisfied the District Chairperson of its capability to provide an excellent exchange opportunity.

Rotary International sponsors over 8000 Youth Exchanges per year throughout the World. Rotary International Exchanges have a history of over 30 years of success. The objectives of the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program are:

- To further International Goodwill and Understanding.
- To expand opportunities of Educational Diversity to the Youth of the World.
- To broaden the horizons of Cultural Understanding in our future leaders.
- To improve the Ambassadorial skills of the young Citizens of the World.
- To serve as Messengers of Peace and Understanding between diverse cultures of the World.
