Optional Trips for inbound exchange students
There are a variety of tours available for Inbound Exchange students that provide students with the opportunity to see other parts of Canada or the United States including popular historical, cultural and geographic sites. These trips normally sell out so it’s important students who are interested visit the websites listed and make a decision. All of the sites have clear instructions on how to apply.
PARTICIPATION IN ANY OF THE TOURS LISTED WILL REQUIRE PARENTAL PERMISSION AS WELL AS PERMISSION FROM THE STUDENT’S HOSTING DISTRICT!!!!
Option #1 – The “East Coast” trip
This is a 15 day coach trip which typically starts on 1 July in Ottawa. You will visit many popular historical, cultural and geographic sites throughout Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Cape Breton and Nova Scotia. The cost is about $2,000.00. Option #2 – The “Coast to Coast Rail/Bus tour”
This is a longer trip which starts on the East Coast about June 19 and ends on the West Coast on July 19. You will be in Ottawa for Canada Day, in Calgary for the Stampede, see the Rockies and finish your trip on Vancouver Island. You will see more of Canada in a month than most Canadians see in a lifetime. The cost for this trip is about $3,000. Option #3 – X-Canada Tour 2011
The tour is composed of two parts that can be taken separately or together depending on the location, budget and interest of the student. You’ll get to know the Canadian tradition and history , on the Eastern tour. That’s the opportunity to understand Canada in its fullness as we taste traditional dishes and discover amazing monuments. The Midwestern tour reserves more historic highlights, Canada will definitely surprise you with its multicultural facets and mixtures of ‘yesterday’, ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’. The complete Cross Canada Tour: $2700.00 CAN / $2534.00 US and the Eastern portion of the Tour: $1390.00 CAN / $1305.00 US or the Western only portion of the tour: $1970.00 CAN / $1850.00 U. Option #4. 2011 Discover America Bus Trip
The 35th annual bus trip around the USA will leave July 1, 2011 and return July 31, 2011. This trip is made available to Rotary Exchange Students who have the means and desire to see the USA. An Additional $800 is recommended for food
COST: $2150 per person for transportation, lodging, and sightseeing. Travel will
be via deluxe air-conditioned motor coach. Lodging will be in hotels and motels
